AcadeMics:Phonics: We are working on spelling and decoding words with silent letters. We are working on the following patterns: kn, gn, wr, mb, ph, and gh. Reading: We are continue to cover fairy tales, fables, legends, and folktales! Stories about Anansi, the trickster spider, are one of the most common folktales. Stories about Anansi are great for teaching students to identify the moral or lesson of a story. Grammar: We are continuing to work on shades of meaning with adjectives and verbs. Some words have a stronger meaning than others. For example, toss, throw, and hurl! After shades of meaning, we will be moving onto adverbs. Math: Students will be adding and subtracting within 1000, using concrete models or drawings. This means we will primarily be using base ten blocks to add and subtract three digit numbers for the next couple weeks. Social Studies: We will continue to learn about Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the Girl Scouts of America. Upcoming Dates:
